The Voyage Art: Captain Buckle Beard

I was was contracted by the Indie game studio "MOJO Bones" to be the game artist on the IOS spiritual successor to the IOS puzzle game called "The Curse"

It was a puzzle game with a bright colourful, up beat pirate theme.

I learnt so much working with the team and covered so many design categories that I had no experience on.

I'm very proud of the work I did on the project and was a pleasure to work with the team.

These were my first few sketches of the Buckle Beard before we started to narrow down what kind of character we wanted.

I had so much fun exploring many variations of this character, we put a lot of hard work and effort to capture that right look we we're going for.

I believe we felt that we were deviating too much from making the character look mischievous yet likeable, so I had to steer the design more to fit those categories.

We felt the lovableness was there with this iteration, but it was too similar to Long John Silver from Disney's Treasure Planet. So we had to deviate the design yet keep the likeable factor.
